As the sun slips below the horizon at Cabo de São Vicente in Sagres, the lighthouse stands quietly against a fading band of warm light. The sea below darkens into deep blue tones, while the sky clears completely, holding the moment in calm suspension as day gives way to night.
Colour and restraint define the photograph. Muted blues dominate the sea and upper sky, gradually giving way to a soft glow near the horizon. The lighthouse and cliff edge provide a steady visual anchor, their presence understated yet resolute, allowing the surrounding space and stillness to take precedence.
In print, the smooth tonal transition between the warm horizon and the cooler expanse above remains finely balanced, avoiding the compression often seen on screen. The dark sea and cliff retain depth and separation, preserving the quiet tension between solidity and openness that gives the image its sense of composure.
