At sunrise in the Val d’Orcia, Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta emerges gently from the surrounding fields as warm light spreads across the rolling Tuscan landscape. The chapel and nearby farmhouse sit alone on the ridge, held against distant hills softened by early haze, as the day begins in near silence.
Colour and atmosphere shape the scene. Muted greens in the foreground give way to warm ochres and pale golds in the sky, while the white stone of the chapel catches light cleanly without glare. The composition is restrained and balanced, with open space allowing the buildings to feel both grounded and contemplative within their setting.
In print, the separation between the chapel’s bright façade and the subdued layers of land and hills remains finely resolved. Subtle transitions in the sky hold their warmth without banding, and the gentle tonal falloff into the distance preserves the image’s sense of depth and quiet reverence beyond the screen.
