Seen head-on at dusk, the Samuel Beckett Bridge rises from the roadway with precise symmetry, its cables and mast forming a clean, geometric spine through the centre of the frame. The city recedes evenly on both sides, allowing the bridge itself to dominate the composition without distraction.
Long exposure softens the movement of traffic into luminous trails of light, contrasting with the stillness of the structure and the weight of the darkening sky above. Subtle warmth gathers near the horizon while cooler tones settle into the clouds, creating a restrained balance between motion and calm, modernity and atmosphere.
In print, the geometry of the bridge becomes more tactile and resolved, with crisp separations between steel, roadway, and sky. The light trails retain their delicacy without bleeding into surrounding tones, reinforcing the image’s sense of measured control and architectural clarity beyond what is felt on screen.
