In September of 2011 I visited Donegal, and while certainly not my first trip to this County it was my first as a competent photographer. I was completely blown away by the rugged landscape. I’ve spoken in the past of the differences between the East Coast of Ireland; where I live and the West Coast. The West, no doubt because of it’s exposure to the Atlantic is so much more… well… epic in nature. I’ve since returned to Donegal a number of times, the last time was in April to attend a Photowalk and I plan to return often.

One of the very first images I shared from the 2011 visit was entitled Clear Day Ahead and was captured on a little unnamed beach near Portsalon during sunrise. It has been a very popular Print since then but I have also received a number of requests if there was a Portrait orientated version available. I knew I had shot a number of portrait images during the morning so I decided to revisit the archives and produce one. And here it is, taken just 7 minutes before Clear Day ahead I have interpreted this image a little differently, for starters it is Black and White. The cloud cover was quite a bit heavier at the time of this shot which lends to a weightier mood that I felt worked better as a B&W. I hope you like it.
