We are having some pretty amazing weather at the moment with temperatures in the low 20’s and clear blue skies. Which was all the better because I had planned an overnight photography trip back to Antrim. I last visited the Antrim coastline in October 2010 and I can tell you the weather was very different to what we are having at the moment.

The trip was planned with near military precision and I and a good friend set out on Friday afternoon. We made good time and arrived well before sunset so we could finalise some last minute recky. We had planned a sunset, night & sunrise shoot plus whatever else we could fit into the intervening time. We ended up shooting from about 8pm through to 1am, took 3 hours sleep in the car and were back up at 4am to shoot the sunrise. We finished off at Kinbane Castle at around 8am where we slept for a couple of hours in its shadow before heading back to Dublin. All in all a very satisfying trip, albeit exhausting.

The above image is the first from that trip and was taken during Sunset last Friday night. This is not my 1st image of The Giants Causeway, also known as the Clochán an Aifir in Irish as I captured an image on my last visit to Antrim in 2010. Although in very very different weather conditions. I was presented with somewhat of a novelty in Irish Landscape Photography; a cloudless sky. Indeed having no clouds is very rare indeed. It did mean however that there was nothing to block the gorgeous golden light reaching the rocks of the causeway and the cliffs behind.

As I mentioned this is the 1st image from the trip and I am really looking forward to sharing more with you over coming weeks and months.
