Lough Caragh at Sunrise #2

Price range: € 35.00 through € 350.00

Kerry, Ireland • Dec 29th, 2014

Soft dawn light spreads across Lough Caragh as the mountains of Kerry emerge in reflection.

the Photograph

At first light, the sun rises above Lough Caragh in County Kerry, lifting the horizon into gentle colour. The sky opens gradually, with layered cloud catching warm tones that reflect cleanly across the still surface of the lake, drawing the scene into quiet symmetry.

The composition is anchored by reflection and restraint. Subtle movement in the clouds contrasts with the calm water below, while the distant mountain forms, including Carrauntoohil, sit low and steady against the warming sky. The long exposure softens transitions without erasing detail, allowing colour and form to remain balanced and unforced.

In print, the image gains depth through its tonal separation. The mirrored clouds reveal delicate gradations that are easily overlooked on screen, while the darker landforms retain weight without closing in. The surface of the lake appears smoother and more continuous, reinforcing the sense of stillness and early-morning quiet held within the scene.

the Print

Printing is treated not as a final step, but as a continuation of the work, refining tone, balance, and texture until the print feels true to the original experience. Each photograph is produced as a signed Fine Art Giclée print, carefully inspected by me before it leaves my studio.

Prints are offered in five sizes, Companion, Artist, Studio, Gallery, and Master. The range is intentionally limited, allowing the image to be experienced at a scale that feels right, from an intimate print to a larger piece with stronger presence.

Smaller editions are printed by me personally, while larger works are produced in close collaboration with a trusted fine art printer in Ireland. All prints are made using archival papers from Hahnemühle and Canson, combined with genuine Epson pigment inks, chosen for their tonal subtlety and long-term permanence. Every print is backed by my satisfaction, replacement, and lifetime fade-free guarantees. Find out more about my printing process here.
