Sunrise over Dunas de Maspalomas #1

Warm sunrise light traces the sculpted curves of the Maspalomas dunes, with a solitary figure giving scale to the open landscape.

the Photograph
Ridges of wind-shaped sand roll through the frame in layered curves, from fine ripples in the foreground to the broad crest of the distant dune. Warm sunrise light catches the raised surfaces while deep blue-grey cloud holds the upper half of the image, and a solitary figure on the horizon gives the landscape a quiet sense of scale.
What interested me here was the balance between order and change. The dunes appear almost drawn into the landscape, yet every line is temporary, reshaped by wind and marked again as the day begins. The low light separates those forms gently, allowing the image to hold both the calm of early morning and the sense that the scene will never arrange itself in quite the same way again.
In a Fine Art Giclée print, the photograph gains much from the separation between warm sand, cool shadow and the muted colour of the cloud. Archival paper gives the fine foreground ripples a physical delicacy, while genuine Epson pigment inks hold the darker dune forms without losing their subtle transitions. Each print is personally reviewed and signed, giving lasting form to a condition that existed only briefly.

the Print
Printing is treated not as a final step, but as a continuation of the work, refining tone, balance, and texture until the print feels true to the original experience. Each photograph is produced as a signed Fine Art Giclée print, carefully inspected by me before it leaves my studio.
Prints are offered in five sizes, Companion, Artist, Studio, Gallery, and Master. The range is intentionally limited, allowing the image to be experienced at a scale that feels right, from an intimate print to a larger piece with stronger presence.
Smaller editions are printed by me personally, while larger works are produced in close collaboration with a trusted fine art printer in Ireland. All prints are made using archival papers from Hahnemühle and Canson, combined with genuine Epson pigment inks, chosen for their tonal subtlety and long-term permanence. Every print is backed by my satisfaction, replacement, and lifetime fade-free guarantees. Find out more about my printing process here.
