As the sun rises over the Irish Sea, early light spreads gently across the cliffs of Howth Head on Dublin’s coastline. The lighthouse sits quietly along the headland, its presence understated against the widening glow of the sky and the softened surface of the water below.
The scene is shaped by contrast and balance. Warm light meets cooler tones in the sea, while the long exposure smooths the water into a calm counterpoint to the textured rock and steep cliff faces. The coastline curves naturally through the frame, guiding the eye toward the distant horizon without urgency.
In print, the image reveals a subtle richness that extends beyond the screen. Fine detail in the cliff textures and the quiet tonal transitions in the sea become more tactile, while the warm light holds its depth without overpowering the scene, allowing a sense of space and stillness to emerge gradually.
