Early light drifts along the rugged edge of Howth Head on Dublin’s coastline, revealing layered cliffs that fall gently toward the Irish Sea. The lighthouse sits calmly on the headland, anchoring the scene against a pale sky and smooth water below.
The composition balances land and sea through softened tones and restrained colour. The cliffs carry the weight of the land, while the long exposure draws the water into a quiet, continuous presence, allowing the structure of the coastline to emerge without drama.
In print, the transition between cliff textures and the softened surface of the sea becomes more tactile. Fine tonal shifts in the rock face and the gentle gradation of the water hold their separation with greater clarity than on screen, giving the image a sense of depth and stillness that unfolds slowly when viewed in physical form.
