Sunset above a Farmhouse in Sagres #1

Price range: € 35.00 through € 350.00

Algarve, Portugal • Jun 17th, 2019

Warm evening light settles over a quiet farmhouse amid the rolling fields of Sagres.

the Photograph

As evening approaches near Sagres on Portugal’s Algarve coast, warm light drifts across open farmland, revealing a small farmhouse set low against the horizon. The land rises and falls gently, its ploughed lines and soft grasses catching the last light of day beneath a broad, cloud-filled sky.

Colour and pattern shape the photograph. Golden tones in the fields contrast with cooler blues and greys above, while the repeating lines of cultivated land guide the eye toward the distant house. The scale remains restrained, with the farmhouse almost absorbed into the landscape rather than standing apart from it, reinforcing a sense of calm and continuity.

In print, the fine texture of the grasses and the subtle variation between worked earth and standing crop become more apparent, lending the foreground a quiet tactile presence. The soft gradation of light across the sky holds without flattening, allowing the relationship between land, sky, and dwelling to remain balanced and unforced.

the Print

Printing is treated not as a final step, but as a continuation of the work, refining tone, balance, and texture until the print feels true to the original experience. Each photograph is produced as a signed Fine Art Giclée print, carefully inspected by me before it leaves my studio.

Prints are offered in five sizes, Companion, Artist, Studio, Gallery, and Master. The range is intentionally limited, allowing the image to be experienced at a scale that feels right, from an intimate print to a larger piece with stronger presence.

Smaller editions are printed by me personally, while larger works are produced in close collaboration with a trusted fine art printer in Ireland. All prints are made using archival papers from Hahnemühle and Canson, combined with genuine Epson pigment inks, chosen for their tonal subtlety and long-term permanence. Every print is backed by my satisfaction, replacement, and lifetime fade-free guarantees. Find out more about my printing process here.
