Sunset at Doagh #1

Price range: € 35.00 through € 350.00

Donegal, Ireland • Mar 1st, 2016

Storm-lit seas surge against the cliffs at Doagh on Ireland’s northern coast.

the Photograph

On the Donegal coast near Doagh, the Atlantic presses hard against dark rock as Storm Jake moves through the landscape. Waves collide with the cliffs in heavy rhythm, sending spray into the air while breaks in the cloud allow brief shafts of warm light to touch sea and land.

Colour and force define the scene. Cool blue-greens in the water contrast with muted gold and grey tones in the sky, creating a shifting balance between illumination and shadow. Long exposure draws the movement of the waves into sweeping arcs and softened textures, allowing the energy of the storm to register without overwhelming the frame.

In print, the layered motion of the water separates into distinct currents rather than a single mass, preserving a sense of direction and depth. The contrast between illuminated spray, darker rock faces, and the softened sky remains finely resolved, sustaining the image’s tension between power and transience beyond the screen.

the Print

Printing is treated not as a final step, but as a continuation of the work, refining tone, balance, and texture until the print feels true to the original experience. Each photograph is produced as a signed Fine Art Giclée print, carefully inspected by me before it leaves my studio.

Prints are offered in five sizes, Companion, Artist, Studio, Gallery, and Master. The range is intentionally limited, allowing the image to be experienced at a scale that feels right, from an intimate print to a larger piece with stronger presence.

Smaller editions are printed by me personally, while larger works are produced in close collaboration with a trusted fine art printer in Ireland. All prints are made using archival papers from Hahnemühle and Canson, combined with genuine Epson pigment inks, chosen for their tonal subtlety and long-term permanence. Every print is backed by my satisfaction, replacement, and lifetime fade-free guarantees. Find out more about my printing process here.
