Water threads its way through dark stone at Torc Waterfall.

the Photograph
Within the woodland of Killarney National Park, Torc Waterfall descends in a series of stepped cascades, weaving through moss-darkened rock and shadowed forest. The flow is constant but measured, shaped by the contours of the stone rather than force or volume.
Rendered in black and white, the photograph emphasises structure and movement over place or season. Pale water traces clean paths through the frame, set against the weight and texture of the surrounding rock. The absence of colour draws attention to the contrast between solid form and continuous motion, allowing the eye to move slowly upward through the cascade.
In print, the separation between the bright water and the dense tonal range of the rocks becomes more nuanced. Fine gradations appear within the darker areas, revealing surface detail and depth, while the softened flow of the water gains a layered quality that feels continuous rather than frozen. These qualities give the image a quiet sense of rhythm and persistence.

the Print
Printing is treated not as a final step, but as a continuation of the work, refining tone, balance, and texture until the print feels true to the original experience. Each photograph is produced as a signed Fine Art Giclée print, carefully inspected by me before it leaves my studio.
Prints are offered in five sizes, Companion, Artist, Studio, Gallery, and Master. The range is intentionally limited, allowing the image to be experienced at a scale that feels right, from an intimate print to a larger piece with stronger presence.
Smaller editions are printed by me personally, while larger works are produced in close collaboration with a trusted fine art printer in Ireland. All prints are made using archival papers from Hahnemühle and Canson, combined with genuine Epson pigment inks, chosen for their tonal subtlety and long-term permanence. Every print is backed by my satisfaction, replacement, and lifetime fade-free guarantees. Find out more about my printing process here.
