The Abandoned Boat

Well I am back now and I wanted to kick the week off with one of the first images from my travels. Taken at 8am just as the sun was rising on a very frosty morning on Skeagh in Bailieborough, Co Cavan. It was such a peaceful start to the day and everything was covered in the lightest of frosts when I arrived to the lake. I had actually planned another shot for this morning that was actually 180º from this image. As I was setting it up though I looked behind me, as I often do, and found this beautiful scene in front of me.

HOW I SHOT IT

CAMERA: Canon EOS 5D Mark II
LENS: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
  EXPOSURE:  1/100
  APERTURE: f/4.5
  FOCAL LENGTH: 70mm
  ISO: 50

  1. Very beautiful image John. Totally like the muted colours in this one.

I ran into an abandoned boat myself just before I left to holidays. Unfortunately the conditions weren’t nearly as nice as this. Will have to return that place again once it’s better, or worse, as long as it’s not boring like last time. Which actually could mean next spring 😉

    1. Thanks Sven. The sad thing is that shortly after taking this image I met the owner of the boat and he said it had been robbed the night before. He was happy though that I had found it for him 🙂
