Resolute

I continue to work through my back-catalogue of images from my time in Dorset late last year. This, as you may have noted is unlike every image I have produced from that trip so far in that is not of the sea 🙂 It is in fact the remains Corfe Castle which was built by William the Conqueror. The castle dates back to the 11th century and commands a gap in the Purbeck Hills on the route between Wareham and Swanage. A small group of us were returning from an afternoon shooting at Kimmeridge Bay and decided to try the castle for a sunset. Unfortunately we arrived too late and the gates were closed. Undeterred we decided to try our hand shooting the castle from the gates.

I used my 80m prime Mamiya lens to isolate the castle against the sky. It was a calm evening with little cloud cover so I needed to use 12 stops of ND Filters to extend the exposure long enough to build up the cloud cover and sense of movement.
