Postcard from… Bratislava, Slovakia

A series of three Black and White image of the iconic St. Martin’s Cathedral in the Slovakian capital city of Bratislava.

I am by no stretch of the imagination a travel photographer but I do take my camera with me almost everywhere I go. Most of the time I just take images and never share them. I thought I would begin to change that when I found myself in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia a couple of weeks ago and, as always I had my camera packed. While this was not a photographic trip I did manage to take one evening and walk around this beautiful old city.

One of the central buildings is St. Martin’s Cathedral (Katedrála svätého Martina in Slovak). It is situated at the western border of the historical city center below Bratislava Castle. It is the largest and finest, as well as one of the oldest churches in Bratislava, known especially for being the coronation church of the Kingdom of Hungary between 1563 and 1830 (source wiki)

I loved how it was lit up by night and how it’s brightness played off the relative darkness of the streets around it. I slowly walked around the building trying various compositions and these are the three I was most pleased with.
