Boscombe Pier #1

A couple of weeks ago I had the pure joy of returning to the Jurassic Coastline on the south coast of England, and spending a week shooting this gorgeous location. The last time I visited was in 2013 and that was as part of our annual European Photowalks, with about 30 other photographers. This time it was just me, myself and I.

While I planned to return to a few of the locations I shot in 2013 I did want to visit a few new locations also. The first of which was Boscombe Pier in Bournemouth. Recently restored to the tune of £2.4m this is a beautiful Victorian pier, with lamps, kiosks and wooden boarding, which hosts art exhibitions and events from time to time.

I arrived for a sunrise that never really happened and instead I worked with what proved to be a very foggy morning indeed. However combining the conditions with Long Exposure techniques allowed me to create this ethereal image of the Pier floating somewhere between sky and sea.

You can find more images from the Dorset in my Europe & Beyond portfolio or in my Seascapes & Shorelines portfolio.
