It feels great to be publishing my very 1st image of 2012 today. I had planned a full afternoon and night shoot last Saturday….
I wanted to share another image with you today from my trip to Donegal from September. This time a panoramic, one of several I…
A Floral Image | A close-up image of a Calla Lily flower showing the detailing and texture of the white petals. Back in June last year I shared an image of a Calla Lilly called Hidden from Sight that eventually made it into my Top 10 Favourite images of 2011. Today I wanted to share another composition from that same session.
A Donegal Seascape | “Waves crash upon the rocks of a rugged Donegal coastline in Ireland while the dawn sun sends out its golden glow.” Here’s something a little bit different from me. I plan to experiment this year with a lot more abstract type work. And with that in mind I started to experiment a little over the last few months of 2011.
Well firstly let me start off by wishing you all a very happy New Year. One of the images that made it into my Top 10 for last year was a piece entitled A Line of Crocuses which I originally shared with you in March. I’d like to share an alternate composition of the same subject with you today.
A Wicklow Nightscape | Well here’s something a little different from me. Creating an image of the night sky has been on my list all year but clear skies are as uncommon at night in Ireland as they are during the day.
February, yup February is when I took this image. I actually shared an image I took of this Rhododendron back in April but had this version siting in my Aperture Library waiting for some love and attention. Well I made sure it got that today and wanted to share the final result with you. There is something quite special about a pure white flower; the delicacy and amazing texture of the petals. I hope you enjoy.
A Donegal Seascape | After I had taken the Fanad Lighthouse Image I took a walk around the cliff and surrounding area to see what else the location had to offer. Just a short walk away I was able to get down to the sea upon a jagged outcropping of rocks. By this point though the winds had begun to pick up sending the waves crashing upon the rocks, and a much more threatening clouds had begun to move in. Perfect I said in my head.
A Donegal Seascape | I have been promising to return to sharing some images from my recent Donegal trip for the last couple of weeks and today the wait is over. A stormy cloud covered sky hovers threateningly above Fanad Lighthouse while the surrounding cliffs plunge into rough seas.
A Floral Image | I came across this Orchid in their Glasshouse dedicated to these types of flowers. I thought this unusual as it had not flowered yet. Added to that the sprinkelers had just been on and I could’t resist trying something a little different from the average Orchid photograph.
A Dublin Seascape | Last Saturday I braved a Dawn shoot after several days of heavy rain and flooding. I knew this would bring some great weather conditions at the sea. I headed down to the Forty Foot near Dun Laoghaire.
A Floral Image | I had a chance to visit our local Botanical Gardens here in Dublin and, as many of you will know this is one of my favourite places to visit in Dublin. This flower, known as a Asteraceae Dahlia ‘Ferncliff’ Decorative has a very large head and the space was densely populated. What drew me however was the tips and how the lavender transitioned into the white of the rest of the petal. I decided I’d break out the 100mm Macro Lens and focus on that detail, working very closely to the flower head and drawing out the detail, form and texture I was trying to convey in this image. I think it worked but I’ll let you be the judge.
